About "Uniquely Human"
I'm not sure how long it will be. Six months? A year? Ten? In many ways, the timeline is irrelevant. AI will soon be able to do most computer-based work as well as an expert can. Full stop.
There will be major disruption, and it's the responsibility of firm leaders to decide, intentionally and in advance, which work AI should never touch. Not because AI can't do it, but because we lose something important if we delegate it to AI.
This is a deeply personal question, and it's the one I'll be grappling with in this series of essays.
The future is uncertain, but how we approach it doesn't have to be.
Who’s writing this.
I’m Emily Maxie, the Chief Growth Officer at Firm360, an accounting practice management software company. I’ve worked near AI since 2017, back when we called it machine learning. Today, I spend my time speaking with firm owners and operators about how they're thinking about the future of the accounting industry.
Who it’s for.
Anyone making decisions about where AI belongs in a services business. People who’d rather make the “should” decisions now than inherit them later.
I use AI as a thought partner on this project, but never as a writer. Every word you'll read here (and every opinion I present) is my own.
